Lady with Ermine

Mikey Harrington
"Lady with Ermine", oil paint c. 1489-90

- Leonardo changes the focal point of woman in portraiture from status of woman to the psychological depth of woman.

- With woman portraiture by Leonardo, he tends to make women appear as intellectual as men which is arguably not done by other artists during his time.

- Leonardo’s humanistic sense appears in his portraiture as well (men as well, not just woman). He tries to bring out the personality of each character and show their opinions, which is appropriate from the type of society he was living in - a
humanistic society.
